[xk] Paint heater pipes?

We are at the detail stage of the XK150 DHC restoration, working under the
bonnet. We have the raditor and the heater core back in and we are ready to
install the hoses and the pipes. All the pipes but the long one are
beautiful copper. The only cars (and pictures) I have seen have these pipes
painted black. Is that de rigure? The copper would be such a standout
against the new indigo paint - and it won’t peel. Should the pipes be
painted?

Robert, I have three jags and all of them have the heater pipes painted black. I assume this is correct as they are all factory original in the engine compartment. Have just redone the MK IX and repainted the pipe black as original.

Robert

Suggest you paint them, I used a small copper line for my servo vac line,
looked great for 3mths , then it went dull.
