[xk] Re: DHC 120/140 Hood Install CD's

Fellow 120/140 DHC Owners.

If any of y'all have an XK120 or XK140 DropHead Hood

Installation or Replacement in your future, AND you intend
on doing the job yourself, you NEED the CD of Install
Instructions as written by three DHC Owners (and assembled
by me)…
The three “sets” of instructions, from the first to the third,
show the evolution of the process as each person learned
“How To” and, in turn, added more information and
photographs.
Over One Hundred text pages and photographs to help you
with your own DHC Hood installation Process.
A CD can be yours, TODAY ONLY, for the princely sum
of whatever it costs me to mail the CD… a buck or two, at
most… (overseas will probably be a bit higher)…
If this CD was on eBay, you know it would be at least Ten
U.S. Dollars and Ten more for S&H (Beer & Pretzels)!! I’m
not even charging for the disc itself!! My cousin gave me an
unopened “cake” of 100 CD-R’s and I’m passing that savings
on to you!! This is, indeed, “A Once-In-A-Lifetime” offer…
Avoid the rush, order early!! Order two, one for a spare, just
in case…
I am set-up to Burn CD’s… jump on it now as I may never
do this “en mass” again…
If fact, even if you will NEVER do a DHC Hood Install, you
NEED to get this CD to keep with the DHC for future
generations to use on an as-need basis!!
Charles #677556.

I’m in, Please.

FYI, Charles, I will be in Dallas on the 26th and MAY be driving to San
Antonio. If I do, can I drop by?

Jake;
No doubt a DHC Hood Install does look complicated… BUT, just
like eating an elephant, you take it one bite at a time… The same goes
for a DHC Hood Install…
Read and print-out the three sets of instructions, also print-out
(on 8x10 “plain paper”) ALL the pictures and compare to your DHC’s
Hood (hopefully still assembled, regardless of it’s condition), and a
LOT will become very clear…
In the course of Adrian’s DHC, before he started his Hood Install, he
made several trips to my abode and we spent several hours during
each trip, “carefully” unfolding my “still assembled” DHC’s Hood… the
hood assembly was off the body, so we had it on the floor in the shop…
A careful “disection” of the various layers of the original hood revealed
the mysteries of it’s assembly.
Peter Fielding, Adrian Curtis and John Brady all go into very good
detail in their written instructions, along with some excellent detailed
“matching pictures”, that should take any mystery and difficulty out of
the “assembly” equasion…
Best of luck on your Hood Install… Once finished, some “braggin’ pics”
posted to the J-L Album would be great!!
Charles #677556.
PS Your letter arrived in today’s mail… Thanks. ceb----- Original Message -----

John. Thank you for your response. Current project is 140 dhc. An
amalgamation of several cars. Bob Stipp

XK 140 DHC Head Room
I had a new hood Installed on my fully restored 140 DHC by a professional, but unfortunately the headliner hits my head and as a result the car is not comfortable to drive. The headliner is tight and seems to fit well, and does not sag,
The inside and outside surfaces both are taut. Am I missing something here or is this just how it is. I fit comfortably in a 140 FHC and a 150 OTS.
Thanks, Gene

Sounds like your seat needs to be lowered or the padding reduced. How tall are you. I am 6 ft. and have no issues.

I’m just over 6 ft. tall, but have a long torso. (Only 30" pants inseam) I hadn’t considered working on the seats. If you remove height on the seat pad, do you think the back rest will have to be lengthened?
Thanks for your help
Gene

Would think not. A small gap between the seat and the back should be okay.

John

Thanks for your response
Gene

Is it still possible to get one of your CD’s on Drophead hood instillations?
Thank you,
Gene Kahn

I too am interested in purchasing the CDs on how to install a top(hood) on an xk140 dhc if still available. can I assume that I can contact him directly at cb@risebroadband.net for instruction on payment and delivery?
thanks

Charles I am cleaning up my 140DHC top frame and wood bows. I would appreciate the cd on installing the top if you still have any left.

Hi CB11,

Do you have any more of those CD’s left? If so, I’d like to have a copy sent to the UK.

Do get back and many thanks!
