[xk] RE: LONG LIVE THE QUEEN

Thank you Charles. She was always very popular here and had a great many
admirers.

Her health had been poor for a while and at 101 this had been expected.

There will be a state funeral and a lot of coverage in the press and on TV.
As I write this BBC News is running continual obituaries. Before I retired
it would have been my responsibility to have co-ordinated the BBC’s coverage
of the funeral but that is now someone else’s headache!

Thanks again for the thoughts.

To our cousins in The United Kingdom.

Please accept our deepest condolances of the loss of “The Queen Mum.”
No doubt that this little lady was loved through out the world.
Long Live The Queen.
Charles #677556.

Thanks Charles. It’s not just the people of Britain who are in mourning
but her admirers, former subjects and citizens of the Commonwealth
everywhere who loved and respected her are also saddened by this inevitable
event. Canadians have had a special loyalty to the Queen Mother as she and
her husband were the first monarchs of Canada to actually visit us back in
1939. She was my Queen until the death of George VI in 1952 and certainly
remained an important part of our Canadian fabric. She visited us
frequently and was always very well-received.
