[xk] Re> Low oil pressure

Has anyone suffered a broken oil pick-up pipe in the sump? If so does it sound like gurgling coming from within the engine,

Biondetti and Moss suffered broken oil pick-up pipes in their C-types at
LeMans 1951. Fortunately the Walker/Whitehead car had a good enough lead
that it could cruise to the victory.
Sounds to me like you have correctly diagnosed the problem. You might
add a few more quarts and run it for a few seconds to see if the
gurgling sound changes.

Rob I took your advice and added oil, however what I thought was a broken
oil pick up pipe was in fact a bad condition of lack of oil.

Three quarts later the gurgling from the inner bowls of the engine is no
more, and the oil pressure jumps back up to a healthy reading.

I must have been looking at the Ford manual, not the Jag. needless to say I
felt euphoric, and went for a good blast with the top down and Luke my
retriever doing a flying impression with both ears out horizontal by my
side, but he did have an overheating problem as I noticed dog slobber all
along the passenger door and heading for the back bumper. Oh well who
cares, lifes too short for worries like that.

All you restorers who have yet to experience the joy of a 150 at full bore
an a fabulous day, do not give up, all that painstaking work WILL pay off, I
have been where you are now [ well maybe not as far as Bill Eastman] but
you will be rewarded, your day will come .
