[xk] Tarnished Image?

Hi Listers
Firstly I would like to thank you all for the support you have given me
over the past weeks while my father was very ill, he is still quote “very
poorly but stable” he will not make it from the hospital but at least we(our
family) have all done all that can be done. I will get round to answering
all the messages off list.
Well all is not bad as I have been given a new assignment at work I will
be leaving Mexico 12 Apr and going to Brisbane Aus. next week the contract
is in New Caledonia butI will be in Brisbane quite often. So come out off
hiding any listers that live in the area, even Pom’s are OK. I will be very
sorry to miss all of my meetings with the USA based listers but all is not
lost as I (with family Ann, Carl, Nina & Gary)will be back in Georgia in
Atlanta(I will give full details off line Skip) then St Simons Island from
14 Sept to the 28 Sept. any other locals?
In my defence, honestly I was dragged screaming to the bars mentioned by
Mike in Louisvile, and if you believe that you probably believe in fairies.
Mike & I had a great time we looked at his car quite a project but it will
be wicked once it is done.
I did manage to get some small things done on my XK even got round to
spending the money on the brake up-grade, I will put some pic’s on the web
when it is complete.
More good news I (we) received our new X type whoow what a car, just to
break it in we drove over to Switzerland & managed a shot visit to Zoran
amoung our other friends there.
Well enough from me Cheers Ian_________________________________________________________________

Ian,

Congratulations on your new job.

I’m happy you’ve moved beyond the inevitable loss. Did that 7 years back
and am happy to remember a younger and more positive man, not that I
don’t miss him or Mom. They were great parents and we can only hope that
our kids feel the same way. I think I made the cut and it sounds like I
could share that brass ring with you.

Good luck, don’t be a stranger, John M.

Hi John
Thanks for your message, this group of guys really are great & the
support I have had is beyond belief. I am sorry forthe very tardy response
but things are real tricky with work I am held up in the US as there is a
visa issue to go to the New Caledonia (of of Aus.) so I am over here. You
may have seen my name mentioned in a few mailings, but I am keeping a low
profile. Knight & Leslie are special friends and Mike Spokeller lives here
in Louisville. Where are you?
Some not so good news today my father is still hanging in but he had a
stroke yesterday. I have been in touch with my family and they say to stay
put as ther is nothing more to be said or done(I stayed home and visited him
for every day for 2 months)but I still have a guilt feeling.
Beleive me I will not be a stranger I have met with some thing like 45-50
people on or list in several countries. I have also worked on some of or
lister’s cars as they have had problems and I have been in the area.
Write back some time Cheers Ian>From: “John M. Morgan” johnmarch@juno.com

Ian,

Thanks for the response and I do understand the stress you are
experiencing, especially air travel in the US of A.

Great piece from Knight on his wedding and your participation. You may
be having visa problems, but you seem to be making awfully good use of
your time and other peoples pots and pans.

I divide my time between Woodstock, CT (1 owner '63 XKE OTS and a rather
nice 53 Morgan plus 4) and the lovely island of Martha’s Vineyard ( '54
XK120 SE OTS), where I’m headed Thursday for June and July. Please come
visit, plenty of room (you can have the whole second floor or garage
apartment if you prefer.) Of course, there’s absolutely nothing to do,
so bring a good book. :>)

On a more sober note, I’m terribly sorry about your Dad, but your family
is exactly right. You can’t do anything more and should not feel guilty.
Unfortunately, you will and that’s the price we pay for having wonderful
parents.

Welcome to the front line, John M.
