[xk] Time for fun and a VOTE

If it’s my place, I would like to call for a vote…
Should we allow full time commercial vendors to use this list as a “marketing
tool” for their products ?
I don’t mean the occasional “I got something new in, please visit my site”
but the use of this free list to promote private enterprise.
I think the occasional, “I just found a bunch of parts I don’t need and the
wife sez, either they go or you go” type posting is OK, but the full time
dealers selling their products should not be able to use this list without
subsidizing it, in my opinion. Of course their civil contributions would
always be welcome, and a line listing their company certainly wouldn’t
offend.
I think the way Bill Bassett and Larry Schear use it is an excellent example
for everyone to follow.
Opinions… suggestions… comments?
I think there may actually be policy in place, but I’m not sure. Forgive me
if I’m being redundant in this post.

I really don’t believe a vote is necessary. It has all been covered before.
The fact that individuals violate the rules and then say they are sorry is
not acceptable. An individual knowingly insults another person on the List
and then offers an apology or says he was only kidding. It is a bunch of
bull. There are hidden agendas here as well as big egos. Violate the rules
and you have ONE strike, second violation you are history. It is a privilege
to be part of the List, violate it and the privilege is revoked. “no more
mister nice guy”

Vote here is for NO list use as a “marketing tool”…but I really don’t
think that was Doc’s intention. I think its been clear to Doc as well
as everyone involved that he’s not making any money from list members,
offering up free stuff won’t change that. I think this falls into the
category of “I got something now in, please visit my site”. Doc’s got
himself a new website, and its one to be proud of.
