Another piece for the puzzle:
Service Bulletin 95A dated April 1953 offers this manifold
C.6007 at 6 Pounds 13 Shillings along with the improved
porting cylinder head which eventually came to be known as
the C-type head at 150 Pounds.
This seems to be the first mention of this manifold in the
Service Bulletins.
‘‘If this cylinder head is to be fitted to an existing XK120C
type engine, the existing inlet manifold can be used. If it
is to be fitted to an XK120 engine, but it is desired also
to fit 2’’ bore carburetters, a new manifold will be
required. The part number of this manifold is C.6007.
If the cylinder head is to be used on an XK120 engine or a
Mark VII and the original 1-3/4’’ bore carburetters retained,
then the original inlet manifold, Part No. C4963 must be used.’’
Note a typo in the original manifold part number, should be
C4953.
BTW the 2’’ carbs were 18 pounds each.–
