[xk] Windscreen Seal

Hello everyone,

Been a while since I posted. With summer here I have pulled
the cover off the 120 DHC and decided to finally replace the
windscreen seal. Last night I read every post I could find
on the subject. Great information but I came away with a
couple of question.

I have written down all the type of sealants mentioned,
especially by Charles who made my life much easier when
first pulled my grandfathers car out storage for many years.

I dry fitted the seal to see exactly how it worked and it
seems pretty straight forward.

Questions:
Is sealant placed in the seal groove where the glass fits
(before the glass is fitted in the seal) or is it not
required here? Do I use the 3m 8008 here?

Question:
Is sealant used in the groove which goes over the metal lip
of the windscreen frame, before or after installation? Do I
use the 3m 8008 here

Question:
Which sealant is used to attach the outside chrome trim,
because after dry fitting I realize the seal itself will
never hold the trim by itself. Do I use the 3m 8008 here or
another

Thanks in advance for the read and input

Do not use any sealant or adhesive on the rubber windscreen
seal/gasket. Use the 3M 8008 to hold the chrome trim on, but
nothing else.

Joel,

Thanks for the input.

Question. Do you know if the size of the glass windshield
pieces are slightly larger than the opening. On inspection
and dry fit it seems mine are too small to fill out the
seal completely.

Thanks again

When both pieces are put into the seal, it should fill it out. With
both pieces in the seal, they are installed into the window frame
from the inside.
