Jim,

It’s all detailed and illustrated in my book - Jaguar XK140 EXPLORED.

If you don’t have a copy of this book - surely ESSENTIAL for any XK140 owner

  • I can scan appropriate pages and send them to you direct off-list.

Book details/illustrates the connections to the switch itself, and also
connections to the wiper-motor, and gives a schematic/diagram of the wiring
in between, so a LOT more than in any other reference source, including of
course factory/Lucas wiring diagram.

Roger Payne - XK140MC OTS; E-Type 4.2 S.1 OTS; DSV8.

If anybody else is struggling with making a Lucas 2 speed wiper motor self park I may have the answer. It took me many hours of much head scratching and frustration to work out the solution.
As usual always suspect the earth if something electrical fails. But in this case you need two earths! The loom contains an earth lead (of course) what nobody tells you is, the wiper motor body also needs an earth. The rubber mounting pads insulate the motor from the bulkhead. You might get lucky and the motor body touches somewhere and earths it, But mine certainly didn’t. A simple wire from the motor body to earth fixed it instantly.
