[xk] xk140 Throttle Linkage

Can anybody help me with an illustration or pictures of the
Throttle Linkage where the flex shaft comes off the carburetor
throttle shaft to where it locates to the body pivot.I cannot
figure out what is needed as far as levers or couplers that are
required. Mine was converted to a cable sometime in the past. I
think I have what is required from the accelerator petal to the
next body pivot but am not sure from there.
Thank you in advance.

There are four common arrangements for manual gearbox XK140s, and four less
common arrangements for Automatics, depending whether you have a RHD or a
LHD XK140, whether it is an OTS/DHC (the same) or a FHC (different).

So what do you have?

In JAGUAR XK140 EXPLORED I have fully detailed the LHD OTS/DHC arrangement,
and aspects of the FHC and Auto arrangements, but got a bit of a hard time
from the publisher for not fully detailing the RHD OTS/DHC arrangement.

If you don’t have this book (dare I say a MUST HAVE for all XK140 owners) I
can send you direct a scan of relevant pages, or may indeed still have my
working drafts prior to printing of book.

I have just joined this very special forum, having begun a search for information on XK140 FHC RHD throttle linkage,

I have two 140’s - one SE with sand casts and C head, the other standard B head, but with HD8 upgrades, and both now with 3.8 motors

The standard car I bought 50 odd years ago, and the SE came to me 40 odd years ago - both being extracted from a restro workshop which went broke- so missing many parts, including linkages and carbs.

Wanting to run with a manual choke (no starting carb) and having purchased the two sets of carbs from SU Midel I am now completing chassis up rebuild.

I would appreciate any guidance as to sourcing the missing parts - cant find any on the usual sites- seccond hand would be OK- and in particular how to deal with the HD8’s which open in reverse to the standard carbs- the standard linkage setup obviously being únsuitable,

Opps…I forgot to mention I have the first edition of Roger Paynes excellent book

I am converting a 140 OTS to RHD. I have acquired the correct bell crank lever and two rods which were allegedly for a RHD set up. On a LHD car this is mounted on the near horizontal surface on the bulkhead. Someone local to me has what is meant to be an original RHD OTS and the bell crank lever is mounted on the near vertical panel of the bulkhead. My bulkhead has two smaller than 0.25” holes on the drivers side in the near horizontal surface but I think these were for the washer bottle mount. Any confirmation/information/measurements of where the bell crank lever should be mounted gratefully received. I’ll set this up as a new post if no one sees this. Thank you.
