[xk] xk150 dhc convertible top frame fitting

I am trying to fit my top frame on my 150 dhc. I am looking for
pictures of anything to do with installatioins of the top frame,
wood and hardware. Thanks in advance. Your pics have been very
helpful in the past and am sure you will be in the future.

In reply to a message from HOLDEN sent Mon 21 Jul 2008:

Holden,
To establish the front-to rear locations of my new B
pillars, or door shut pillars, we first installed the top
frame, with the windscreen gasket, to establish the distance
between the front and rear halves and installed the sills.
Next we installed the doors and then worked on alignment and
door gaps with the new door-shut pillar, dog leg and new
door skin. The photos were taken in February and April.

Next, we needed to establish the width between the B
pillars, near the point where the top frame attaches. While
the floor determines the width at the base, there is no
reliable reference point for the top. The width of the top
frame provides a basic reference, but because of its flex,
it could be off slightly.
Vertical looks right, but one degree out on each side would
mean an inch at the tops, which means the fabric for the
top will either be too tight or too loose.
So we needed the actual dimension, and came to the Forum to
ask for it.
In response to my post, David Meek measured the width of his
B-Pillars: metal-to-metal is 45 1/2 inches.
Good luck!

Monte

A friend of mine is trying to install the wood and hood frame of his XK150 DHC and asked me if I had any photos, which I unfortunately do not, but thought might be available from the folks on JL. He sent me the following questions: “We are trying to put a top on and all the wood pieces and some of the bows were missing when we got it. I would like to find somebody with one to get some photos of how it all goes together, so we get it exactly right. I have tried to get info from googling, but it’s difficult to find someone who has photographed one of these top frames minus the cloth and padding. It is different from the XK120/140 cars in a lot of ways, but similar in the general thought. Half a dozen good photos would probably explain it all, but right now I don’t have them.”

Anyone have any photos they could share? I could not find any using the search function.

Thanks,
Drew

nothing just showing the wood but this may help

Thanks Terry. That is indeed helpful. Maybe someone will have some photos of the wood.

Hi Drew,
I’ve been gathering images of the DHC hood arrangement in preparation for my installation. Here is a link to Google drive of everything I’ve got so far
