XK120 / XK140 D Roll install video

Here’s the rear bulkhead trimming sequence:

Starting with the wheel wells, mask off the area to be covered, spray on adhesive (I used Permatex Heavy Duty) to both surfaces and apply the 1/8" foam - I used open cell foam in this location because it forms better without wrinkles than closed cell foam over compound curvatures

Cut through the foam around the wheel well and peal off the tape

This is both sides with open cell foam glued in place and the right side re-masked for the next step - several practice fittings with the loose vinyl followed by spray adhesive on the foam and underside of vinyl

Vinyl applied on right side and wrinkles removed with the heat gun and damp cloth.

Here you can see the right side completed and the left side before heat shrinking the vinyl

This is the vertical bulkhead vinyl precisely dry fitted. It’s clamped in place using vicegrips (aka mole grips) and a length of 1/8" x 1/2" bar stock to fix it tightly to the underside of the flange

The vinyl is then pulled up and taped lightly in place and the wheel well coverings masked off from adhesive overspray - note: no foam on this panel

This is the vertical piece in place - not shown is the next step which was pulling the vinyl off the shelf behind, spraying the underside and the shelf with adhesive and then carefully laying in the vinyl

Masking off the floor and vinyl trimming

Adhesive sprayed

1/8" closed cell foam applied

precision dry fit of vinyl covering over battery box area, weighed down to keep it from moving

vinyl lifted to expose underside and vertical panel of battery box area

adhesive sprayed on both surfaces NOTE: in all cases, the masking is removed after the adhesive is applied - otherwise the foam and vinyl will stick to the masking and be difficult to remove.

left side lowered and fixed in place, right side about to be lowered

vertical panel finished

weights removed and vertical panel covering masked off

top cover of battery box area lowered to expose underside of vinyl and foam, followed by spraying adhesive and final wrinkle removal using heat gun and damp cloth

finished job

unrestored battery box cover in place - next step
