[xk8] Adding a CD changer

My '99 XK8 Coupe came with all the toys except the CD changer. I
bought a used one from LKQ salvage on Ebay, ensuring the year and
Vin# compatibility match. I’m guessing that the connector is
buried somewhere beneath the boot liner. Does anyone know what side
of the car it should be on and is it pre-wired so I can ‘plug and
play’?–

The CD changer is mounted on the right side of the trunk, as
your looking into it, and the side trim panel should have an
indentation showing the placement. The trim panel behind
the seats will have to be removed, and for the easiest
removal of the side panel, the panel across the back of the
trunk. The wiring may or may not be installed.–

To my knowledge, the wiring is always present, as it would
have been much more expensive to develop several different
versions of the harness taking into account all the options.

But the wires and connectors for the unused options are
often very well hidden, and pluged into blind connectors
that are afixed to the sidewall in order not generate any
noise when driving… This is why many people do not find
them, as they look like connected and used wires…

I suspected that was the case as with U.S. vehicles but
wasn’t positive.–
