[xk8] ASC/Trac Error Message

I am occasionally getting an error message that the ASC/Trac
Control is unavailable. Where do I start in diagnosing this
problem?–

In reply to a message from John Elliott sent Tue 1 Jul 2008:

It is frequently due to:

  • low tyre pressure
  • weak battery
  • bad abs sensor electric connection

If all this is ok, the you should check the abs sensors themselves
and the module.

I ocassionally get this error message too - always the next day
after washing the car and no doubt sloshing (UK term for liberally
sponging loads of water) over the alloys.

Could be just water in the works.–

Possible, but I’d rather bet that the connectors of your abs
sensors are no more 100% waterproof…

I have been replacing the cables between the front sensors and the
control module. The wiring is not as flexible as I would like for
it to be and it seems to be a failure point that can’t handle the
flexing.

Up the road in Arlington, TX.–
