[xk8] Detroit Wheels

My wife has forced into the side of the ride by an oncoming coach and this
has damaged the outer rim of one of my 20" Detroit alloys. It looks like the
outer rim is separate from the main structure of the wheel and could
potentially be replaced. Does anyone know if this is the case?

Also, as luck would have it, there is a guy on ebay selling a rear wheel
whereas it’s my front that is damaged. Given that the tyres are different
widths, does anyone know if the wheels themselves are interchangable?

Cheers - Jez

The stainless still rim can be replaced quite easily. Undo all the
bolts on the circumference and the valve. Then using a rubber
hammer separate the rim.

On reassembly the bolts must be sealed with locktight.

Hope that helps.–

That’s great - many thanks.

Do you know if new rims are available from Jaguar or any other suppliers?

Thanks again - Jez

I do not think that Jaguar will supply the rims here in the UK, and
I am not sure if this is because of safety reeasons. If the bolts
are replaced carefully I cannot see a problem. The German company
BBS may supply them or alternatively I thought about finding a
small machine shop who could make the the rims. There must be a
demand for them. Perhaps you could let know if you can obtain them.–

Jez, not sure if you looked in the threads but I seem to recall
someone else asking about rim replacement and BBS were mentioned
then as well.
