XK8 Specialists who break more than they fix

My experience of Jaguar specialists has been universally poor and I have the bills to prove it. I take my car in to fix something and thousands of pounds later they have broken something else!

The latest fiasco is spending £2k investigating high CO2 levels and a slight misfire. The specialist also decided to replace the gearbox selector cable at this time. When I picked up the car it now does not kick down properly and is throwing up code p0732.

The gearbox oil was replaced last year and the gearbox was overhauled in 2019. Gearbox oil levels are fine.

I could be unlucky and the gearbox might have died while it spent 4 weeks sitting around being tinkered with but I don’t believe in coincidences. On current trajectory this looks like being another summer while I cannot enjoy my car.

Grateful for thoughts on how to fix my Essex based XK8.

I’m sorry I can’t be of help. I live in Canada and have a factory trained jag specialist that I am very happy with. So much so that I have recommended him to friends.
