Had a similar problem with my 2003 XKR Convrtible this Winter -
someone on this list thought it might ave been caused by low battery
voltage. I checked the voltage, and it seemed fine, but I put it on
a charge anyway (I don’t use the car too much in the snowy Winter
here) - The charge seemed to fix the problem for a few days, and I
again laid up the car for a while. When the warmer weather arrived,
the problem went away. Now, I’m sure that you must hate self-healing
hardware as much as I do, but it seems empiraclly to be a good lead!
Change/replace the main battery! Might do an engine/body computer
scan (dealership?) and see what’s in the error log. By the way, the
observed phenomina was limited only to the driver’s window (left-hand
door). For sure, I’ll replace the battery before next Winter!

Dear All,
I have just bought a 1998 XKR convertible. When opening the door
either from inside or outside of the car the door windows open
about 1’’. When closing the door the windows don’t go up. So now
when leaving the car I have to first open the door while power
still on, then close the windows with the door buttons and leave
the car and close the door without toughing the handle. This is
quite frustrating. Has anyone else experienced the same problem?

I.E. I open the drivers door with the window full up, before
opening the window drops about an inch, when I get out and close
the door,the window does not move back to the fully closed
position, further of I raise the door handle again, the window
drops another inch or so.
also when locking the car, (with the window open) the window will
not close / seal.
Id be grateful for any suggestions thanks.

A good deal of the time erratic window operation can be
corrected by reprogramming the windows. With the top up,
lower the problem window fully down and hold the button for
5 seconds. Then raise the window fully up and again hold
the button for 5 seconds. Open and close the door and the
window should operate normally, if the battery isn’t weak.–
