My XK8 (1998 Roadster) performs so much better in ‘‘sport mode’’
shifting; especially, eliminates a huge ‘‘dead spot’’ between 35 and
50 mph. With other similarly equiped vehicles that I’ve owned, the
owner’s manual has specifcally stated something to the effect that
while the shift points are changed to enhance performance, that top
gear is NOT affected. I DON’T find such a statement in my various
XK8 manuals. Can anyone tell me if this is the case with the XK8,
or should I be running in regular mode when driving at highway
speeds for long distances to obtain a higher gear and therefore,
better mileage? Thanks in advance. Tom–
