[xk8] XKR central locking/alarm always on

Hi there cat-enthusiasts,
I recently purchased my 2000 XKR and didn’t believed what a real
sports car would mean - before I experienced ‘‘my cat’’.

Since a few days I’ve the following problem:
1.) central locking does not respond to remote anymore, although
trunk and ‘‘lights on’’ works fine
2.) Alarm is always set to on, so I’ve just 7 seconds to turn
ignition to Pos. II until the Horn smaches
3.) The doors didn’t lock anymore automatic by selecting the ‘‘D’’
position on the shifting.

Any ideas?
I read herein that taking battery of the remote or disconnecting
car-battery migth help.
Any other ideas?

Happy driving

Given that some functions off the remote work ok, it’s not likely to be the
battery. Could be a problem with the buttons, but the behaviour of the doors
( point 3 ) suggests it’s the car at fault. Make sure you have the code for
the radio and then disconnect the battery for 10 minutes or so to see if it
is just the security module getting confused. You will also have to
reprogramme the windows after reconnecting the battery.

If that doesn’t fix it, then there may be a problem with one of the
microswitches or the wiring in the system, but this will be hard to track
down without proper diagnostics.

Cheers - Jez
