1989 XJ40 engine cooling fan swap

Gentlemen …

Has anyone replaced their early XJ40 engine driven cooling fan with the later years dual electric fans ?

I thought about it when I owned my 1992 sedan since the 1993/94 sedans had the setup.

Never did it and sold the car.

You’ll need the temp switch and relay/harness to get it to function properly.

I replaced my ‘92 with a generic electric fan and modified the original housing, was a bit of work but not horrendous.

Could anyone who has the dual electric fan setup on their XJ40 do me a favor and measure the hight and width for me … thanks in advance.

Fan shroud for X300/X308…

A=22 1/4" (22.25")
B=21 1/2" (21.5")

XJ40 should be the same as it is the same superseded part number.

Mr Motorcarman (hmm … is that a old Wise County family name :smile:).

Thanks for the info, but I forgot to ask for the depth, could you please pull out the ruler for me one more time.

The main frame is 1 1/8" thick (1.125").

The distance from the back of the mount tab to the radiator side of the frame is about 5/8".
