I recently purchased a mint 1990 xj6 4.0 sovereign and my abs light is on and the brakes are heavy, also there is a slight hum coming from the back. Was wondering if you could help me find tha source of these problems! I already replace all 4 wheel bearings, all the brakes, changed the differential and engine oil and the rocking pinion.
Welcome, but sorry, Walk - you are on the wrong list; our deals with xj before 87. Which did not have ABS…
Did you change the diff oil or the diff itself? Just clarify for the other list…

When you first turn the ignition key do you hear the pump power up to pressurise the bulb on the brake system?

The hum from the back under the back seat may well be the normal sound of the external fuel pump. They run continuously when the engine is running.
