6.40x15 Tires for Early Etype

My main reason for posting is to advise that Universal Vintage Tire called me to confirm that they just received my backordered tires, which are 6.40x15 Avons, as listed on their website. They said they have an additional 5 more, if anyone is interested.

After the recent thread regarding “correct” tires for the early Etype, I decided to look for 6.40x 15 bias ply tires, blackwall, Dunlop branded. As others have indicated, Dunlop does not seem to be making this tire right now and maybe never will. Universal sells the Avon tire and I decided to go with that for my 63 FHC, to give me the period look that I desired.

When my 62 model wore out it’s new tires in about 15,000 miles, I shopped for replacements and came away with 6.40 X15 Daytons, and they were wonderful on the wire wheels. So good, in fact, that they did not need balancing, and yes, I continued to do 120 mph on them.
