When Nick looked at the XK of mine we wondered since it had wire wheels with one in the trunk could this be an early SE XK120.
I am wire brushing off the loose rust flakes while the gas tank is out. In the spare tire compartment I noticed a U channel spot welded on the top of this compartment. There is a piece missing from the middle to accommodate the wire wheel. This compartment was not designed by the factory to have this SE addition. I would have to make the assumption that any SE modifications were made by one of the previous owners.
Clearly if I stay with wire wheels I’ll have to keep this modification.
