88 XJS TWR or not!

Baxtor,

I knew TWR used different sized tires on the Speedlines, but didn’t realize the offset was different. I went and looked. See pictures.

Stephen; sorry the flip panel near the rear view mirror is missing.

I just sold a Keyring to a guy with a TWR XJS .!
Hope they don’t cost as much as a Coombs one , in the future

It is the same staggered offset that got used on the JaguarSport XJR-S. I’m not sure how much difference it makes, but one consequence of the front offset would be that the steering rack wouldn’t need to be modified for the wider tyres - the turning circle of an XJS is poor enough already.

Makes moving to 17" or 18" rims a bit tricky, unless later Jaguars, or some other similar PCD wheels, had the same staggered offset. I’ve made 3mm wheel spacers out of nylon before, but 14mm is a bit of a stretch.

Ah yes, the infamous Coombs Mk2 Jaguar. Of the 33 built it is thought that only 257 survive.

Much like the TWR, easy to copy if you have the right bits, and there is no factory documentation to proove otherwise.

that’s pretty funny right there

Just try to find a 1966 Mustang fastback that isn’t a Shelby GT 350.

Yes, I wonder what happened to my 1965 fastback, in the period correct Wimbledon White. Just add a few blue stripes and a fool is easily fooled.
