Accu-Form Dash cover

Has anyone ever tried one of these?

I’ve seen them several times, specifically on 280Zs, have not tried one. It’s been many years. Things to consider, at least back in the day…

  • There will always be a seam or step right on the front where the cover ends and the original dash starts. I can’t tell in the pic if the front edge rolls back under a bit, if it does this would help conceal the seam and also maybe help hold the cover in place.
  • If the original dash has raised cracks or other defects which stick up, the cover won’t sit down properly; the defects will need to be shaved or ground down.
  • The ones I’ve seen are very obviously a cover, and look add-on. I’d be OK with one in my work truck, but maybe not in my XJS.

Yes, I think it will never look right.
I fixed the dash cover in my old Fiat 124 Coupe and it looked even better than the original…
Shave/grind/sand all raised parts
Fill all cracks (I used body filler)
Apply a thin layer of fiberglass allover, it will help keep everything in place in the long term
Sand
Re-upholster with vinyl or leather
Some are easier than others
