Adaptive Shift Management

The automatic transmission for an X type is made by Jatco and it incorporates Adaptive Shift Management.
They say the car learns to adapt to the way you drive. The most detailed explanation of what that means, that I have found,
can be seen at http://www.google.com/patents/US7653469
This appears to be the Patent by Jatco for the process.
Somewhere is a procedure for resetting the Engine Control Module in case your transmission is behaving peculiarly. I will keep an eye out for it.
That should clear the adaptive settings and allow you to start over with a clean default program.
