Almost on Topic, Material Compatability

I’m changing the oil in my Healey. The oil filter assembly is typical to British cars and Jaguar.

I’m asking here 'cause I trust you guys!
The felt washer that seals the bottom plate as the fixing bolt passes thru the filter is missing. I’d like to source one locally or make one. It’s just a flat washer, sometimes they are neoprene?

I’ve got cork gasket sheet here. Some rubber or neoprene sheet, but I don’t know which. it is
Obviously I want something that won’t deteroriate.

I can shoot down to NAPA tomorrow and get help. There are some real knowledgeble folks behind the counter. But I want to know what iis, and isn’t compatible/advised.

Thanks, Alan

Alan I reckon I left mine out on my 3.8 and it didn’t seem to make a big difference.

Thanks Andrew,
I realize that’s an option. But I assume that leaves a small (minute?) amount of oil able to bypass the filter.
Cheers, Alan

I can see no issue using material other than felt, so long as it is compressible and not too thick.
