Anti Lock light is on

Hello everyone!

Most of the times when I restart my car, it’s off but after my car starts moving 10-15 ft it comes back on. Is this a sign of a failed ABS wheel sensor? Years ago when I did some job (forgot what) on the right rear wheel, the sensor came apart. The metal piece got stuck in the hole while the plastic part came off. I pressed it back onto the metal part and installed the retaining bolt.

Hi Joe,
The fact it only comes on once you have started moving does suggest it’s a sensor problem, but we both know how misleading faults like this can be ! Have you looked at the right rear wheel sensor yet ? Maybe it’s worked loose from the metal piece, or water or muck has found it’s way in there over time.
I hope you resolve it quickly. :grinning:

Joe, the sensors can be tested in situ. Refer to tests 9 and 13 (right side rear, resistance and voltage tests respectively) in this ABS diagnostic excerpt:

Hi Casso!

I haven’t looked at the sensor yet but it’s gonna be my first part to inspect.
I’ll report back if I see a visible damage.

Thank you Mike for the diagnostic procedure. I’ll do it and report back.
