Belts and Pulleys and Tensioners

I’m building a 4.2 from a MkX. I just discovered that my dual belt crankshaft pulley has a big chip missing. I’m assuming this is a fatal flaw, so I need to look for another one… but single or dual belt style? I assume dual crankshaft pulley, but also dual water pump pulley?

The engine came with power steering, but I’m not running power steering. I eventually plan to run aftermarket A/C and the car came with an alternator, so I’m going to update that. Do I need a tensioner? The MkX engine had one, but don’t have it.

If you need pulleys double groove, I have a set.

Mark X with no power steering. Hmm, hope you visit the gym often. I would hate to parallel park without it.

Ha! The engine is from a MkX, but it’s going into a Mk2 with manual steering. My old 1959 Chevy which was bigger and heavier than a MkX was also manual steering. No problem.

Thats good to hear.

My '47 Jeep is manual and my '71 Maverick use to be. The steering box ratios between manual and power are significantly different.
