Betr.: Re: [DaimLan] Problems with V8 250

Roger,
I saw your answer but how do I get the tubes out to bring the copper
ring and bring on RTV sealant?
With knid regards, Klaas Redder.

Hi Phil,

The alternator pulley guards are extremely rare. I have only seen one.

Either
very few cars were fitted with them or they got thrown away when the
first
drive belt needed replacing.

Unless your oil leak is very severe I’d live with it. My V8 250 leaks
from the
power steering, gearbox and engine. The rate is low enough for one top

up
a year for the power steering and gearbox and five or six for the
engine. Even
a new seal is going to leak a bit plus losses into the exhaust on start

up. You
may even be losing a little into the plug tubes which is more annoying

as
when you remove the plugs its difficult to tell their condition when
they have
just been bathed in oil when you removed them, and then oil gets into
the
combustion chambers and burns off next time you start up. This can be
fixed
reasonably easily with silicone RTV sealant and new copper rings.

Sorry, can’t help with the headlining, I got mine done by a
professional.

Daimler ๏ฟฝ68 V8 250 ๏ฟฝ I am trying to tidy up one or two problems.
The most urgent is an engine oil leak from both the front and rear of

the
sump pan.
Can anyone tell me how easy it is to drop the sump in order to
replace
gaskets and seals.

My other problem is that the previous owner had recently installed a

new
headlining which has now started to drop away from the centre of the

roof.
My question is what type of glue should I use to hold it permanently
in
place without marking the cloth.

Lastly, I understand that there should be a cast ally cover over the
alternator pulley. This is missing.
Can anyone tell me where I can acquire one?
