Brake pad sensor

What does the brake pad sensor do. While I was replacing the front wheel bearings the sensor wire broke as I removed the brake caliper. Thinking that the sensor was just to alert me when the pads are low, I decided not to splice and reattach the wire. Aftewards I took the car for a drive and when I applied the brakes it pulled to the right. The sensor wire broke on the left wheel. I am thinking it might have something to do with the sensor not being connected.

Nope! Sensor doesn’t do anything other than show a warning light when pads are low. IMHO you have a faulty caliper.

Sounds like your left caliper is hanging up, which wheel bearing did you replace? And does it have the correct (small) amount of free play?

I think it is more likely that one of the bearings is radically out of
adjustment.
If I’m right, it’ll fail in short order.

Got up today and took it for another spin. Oddly enough it is not braking to one side anymore. Go figure?
I assume it must have been a bit of bearing grease that was on the rotor and it eventually dried up or got cleaned off from the pads.
