Bumper gap to bodywork S1

What is the ideal gap between the bumper and bodywork along the bumpers length?
What gap is required to fit the seal.

Six milimetres or one quarter of an inch.

Thanks for that Andrew…confirmed what I thought

You can buy or make rubber spacers to fit over the bumper bolt shaft in order to align the bumpers.

Original equipment but sometimes forgotten when bumpers are fitted after a paint job.

Ace Hardware was my source for those.

In order to make yours ideal you’re going to have to grind the ends. If you were to just shim out the ends to make them right, the that middle section where the chrome bead is will be way too large. To make mine perfect that section behind and leading up to the overrider had to be significantly ground down, almost an 1/8" removed. Also some had to be shaved from the other end. It’s an iterative process, remove a bit, trial fit with different shims, mark it and remove some more, repeat.

Are you using the angled mounts as stand-offs? Does your overridder droop? I found they “tilting” the bumper up so the overrider is parallel to the ground will close up that gap.

That’s what I thought. I am unsure whether to rechrome or keep the patina.
