The pipe from on top of my HD8 that connects to distributor advance broke off today.
It broke very close to the fitting on the carb.
Is there something locally I can get to replace this fitting and just connect a rubber hose to the distributor, or do I need to get an actual replacement piece for this?

If I’m not mistaken the fitting is just a brass tube pressed into a square plate held to the top of the carb with two screws.
Take the plate off the carb, drill out the remains of the tube, then try a hobby shop for the next size larger.
You might need to make a new gasket to go between the plate and the carb body. Hylomar will do, but you need to make sure you don’t block the hole.
