The central locking system stoped working on my 1992 Xj40 Daimler.

The car has no fob for remote control.
I can manually lock/unlock the front doors with the key and I can open the trunk with key and with the switch in the glowe compartment. The left C4 fuse is intact.
The locking switch on the panel dont operate the door lock.
When locking any of the front door with the key also the trunk locks. When unlocking a front door the trunk stays locked.
Can anyone guide me solving this problem please

Yes the central locking system does have a mind of it’s own !
I can only speak to my 1989 XJ40, but when the locking system gets out of wack I have found that if you get inside the car, shut all the door, and manually push down all the door lock pins it magically resets itself … worth a try

I know my solution sounded a bit far fetched (I should have ended it by saying to click your heals together three times and say “there’s no place like home”) but I’m happy that it worked.
