Chrome lug nut covers

i need to remove a front wheel to look at the washer fluid reservoir and i assume some type special nut came with the car which i dont in the trunk or glove box in order remove the spinning chrome caps.?
is this a dealer item. thanks mike

Your best bet would be to try the parts dept at the nearest dealer. The guys (and gals) in Calgary are very helpful to me. Neither of my X Types came with locking lug nuts and I really don’t see the point.

The stupid lug nut caps are a source of constant sorrow.

Dorman makes a suitable replacement that is solid steel.

The problem is that the caps come loose and ‘slips’ on the nut itself.

Chrome is ‘pretty’ but functional is BETTER.

I have had to drill/cut the stripped cap/nuts from the studs and install repair parts for the failed lug nuts when I worked at the Jaguar dealer.

A regular socket is used for the lug nuts but the chrome caps get ‘distorted’ so some persuasion might be needed to get the socket in place.

Plenty of stories on the interweb for this fault.
