COMMON NAME & part # of this long electrical cylinder by

Hello,
What is this made of?
What is its official name and part number?
I have studied and crossed wiring diagrams and have yet to know what this is for potential replacement.
One lead goes to the left fan motor.
No “relay” I have found looks anything like it.
Any knowledge to be passed would be appreciated.
Early Series 2. 8/22/68 birth.
Thanks for some education in advance.

Resistor for the two speed blower fan for the cabin

I think Mark is right but I have not seen one in that location.

Yep. Heavy duty blower fan resistor.

:+1:

Thank you.

This is the resistor for the A/C blower, not to be confused with the resistor for the cabin heater blower. That resistor is located on the underside of the heater box.

That part is the same as the one in my 1969 E-Type FHC that was equipped at the factory with A/C. As already mentioned it is a resistor for the cabin fan.

If you haven’t seen one before it is because your car wasn’t equipped with factory A/C or it was removed when a prior owner removed the factory A/C.

AC Blower Motor Resistor.

EDIT: I see Mike Frank already identified it for you.

The official name for that part according to page B48 of my Jaguar Series 2 E-Type Spare Parts Catalogue is “Resistor (ceramic) governing speed of blower fan” and the part number is C27267.

Thank you Paul,John and Mike.
Continuing down the rabbit hole of spliced/cut wires of its recent past life.
Slowly reenergizing her,wire by wire,literally.

If you don’t already have the Parts Catalogue for your car you should really get one so you will be able to easily and quickly answer questions like this yourself.

Brandstuder,
Don’t mess with the wiring. The E Types have about 6 or 7 small wiring harnesses, each in its own loom. One for the bonnet, one for the dash board, one for the left, one for the right, etc.
I would suggest buying them from the usual XKE parts venders.
They are not expensive and would save you a lot of time and hassles.
You can buy them separate, one by one, as you proceed.
