Mark,
I have a picture of an extremely early car, that was was pretty
original when found, that was restored by whom I consider one of the
most knowledgeable E type people in the country and in the picture the
clutch cap has no visible embossing. I just talked to Haddock, who has
two very early cars, and he said that he doesn’t recall anything but a
plain cap but that he’ll check into it. Actually I don’t know why
Girling would be marked on anything as to the best of my knowledge
Dunlop was Jaguar’s supplier of brake components.

I do remember my TR3 having a girling embossed cap… The usual
suppiers told me what you had stated that the XKE had a plain cap,
I don’t want to lose points for something stupid…–

embossed with Girling I’ll contact you.

I looked at the pixs in Dr Haddocks book and it shows the metal
cap however I fail to see any imbossing ‘‘Girling’’ Moss mtrs is
selling a nice repop of the cap and bottle for a tr3 with the
imbossing on it… I got a cap for one of the usual sellers and it
is just a plain flat cap like on a gas can. ‘‘Not happy with it’’–

Mark,
Why would Jaguar use a Girling cap when the booster was Kelsey Hayes
and the master & brake cylinders were Dunlop? You’re worrying over
nothing.
