The last word on the pinstripes (I promise). Contrary to what I wrote last
week, the double pinstripe is applied with the WIDE band at the bottom, and
the thinner one above. I did careful checking on a few original, not
repainted xj12 Series III cars this weekend. It is surprising how few
cars there are that have not received a new paint job, and in most cases the
pinstripe is re-applied, but not correctly…especially with regard to the
length of the stripe. By the way, for those intrigued by the mention
of the chrome finisher strips on the xj sedan, a fellow on the xj list
has a set for sale. I do not know if they are new or used.
