[concours] Why Not A Peoples Choice?

Why not a Peoples choice at the Concours?

Some of our cars, especially the (actually) Driven ones don’t have
matching numbers on the hose clamps…and are quite modified
from ‘‘as-new’’ condition. But we still love them.

I believe that the public (who, because of some genetic defect, are
not devoted to cars) would also like to see not strictly stock cars
and participate in the Concours by voting for their favorites.

The Judges would judge for authenticity and would pick Best in
Show; but the general public would also get to pick a Peoples
Choice.–

All clubs within JCNA have the option of conducting a Peoples Choice
competition/award. It’s strictly up to the individual clubs whether or not
they want to make the effort (counting ballots and providing trophies).

Incidentally, Best in Show is also an unofficial local option, not a normal
JCNA award.

Paul,

The JCNA Concours Rule Book (available for free on the JCNA website) has
information about these kinds of awards. Here’s the information straight
from the 2012 JCNA Concours Rule Book, Page I-13:

“5. Club Discretionary Trophies
Additional locally prepared trophies may be provided at the Club’s
discretion; some Clubs present perpetual trophies, i.e. the trophy
(sometimes engraved with the name of the yearly recipient) returns to the
club for re-presentation each year. Clubs may also present trophies (of
their own design and at their own expense) in recognition of accomplishments
such as:
Best in Show
Longest Distance Driven To Compete
Longest Distance Trailered To Compete
Oldest Jaguar in Show
Hard Luck (En Route Damage)
Display
Peoples’ Choice
Other”

We have a very small team pulling hard to put our 22 July JCNA concours
together (the same folks run most of the other club events as well). If you
would like to help out by running such a “People’s Choice Award” for our
upcoming concours, I will let our Concours Chair know. I don’t believe it
is too late, but you will have to: put together all the information;
purchase a trophy (you will be reimbursed); put together the ballots;
organize a team to distribute, gather and count the ballots; and award a
trophy.

If you can’t make this happen this year, I hope you will consider helping
out next year.

Regards,

Paul M. Novak

In reply to a message from Paul M. Novak sent Thu 12 Jul 2012:

Paul thank God you cut and posted the entire thing instead of
simply sending him to read it for himself! I think the ‘‘FREE’’ part
might be the kicker!–
