When I worked at the dealer the S-Type 3.0 V6 was introduced. The oil filters that Jaguar parts dept issued were MOTORCRAFT FL400S in the Jaguar box.
My buddy that worked with me had a Ford Ranger PU and used the same filter so he just put the Jaguar filters on his truck.
I find the MOTORCRAFT FL2021 to be a cross for the 4.2 Liter V8 and will fit the 4.0 also. (but it is a little shorter)
The 3.9 Liter Lincoln LS V8 uses the same filter (MOTORCRAFT FL2021)
I use the MOTORCRAFT FL2021 for all the 4.0 and 4.2 Jaguar V8s so I don’t have to stock two different parts.
I’ve never heard any complains about MOTORCRAFT oil filters.
