Considering a 2.4 Mk2 4 spd

Sure wish they had sent some here: Id have loved to hear and experience a 2.4 XK engine.

Not what I have read Lovell , rhd cars , they made 21768 2.4’s , 22092 3.4’s and 15383 3.8’s
That’s MK2’s
lhd 3405 2.4 , 6571 3.4 and 14757 3.8’s

Really? Almost 60k MkIIs?

Amazing!

i wonder how many of these corrossion prone vehicles survived esp. in northamerica where they were too much for most amateur and pro mechanics?

More like over 84k MK2’s and over 7k 24/340’s !

Indeed , MK2s appeared in local scrapyards (Norfolk UK) around
66 /67, main problems were - Burnt exhaust valve on number 6, due to vacuum reservoir leakage. Clutch kaput. Severe corrosion sill / rear spring boxes and jack points. Need of a general brake overhaul. Also their desirability, along with Austin Westminsters, Ford Zodiacs
et al for Banger racing.

per Nigel’s book -

MkII Oct 59 - Sept 67 - 2.4 RHD-21768 LHD- 3405
MkII Oct 59 - Sept 67 - 3.4 RHD-22095 LHD-6571
MkII Oct 59 - Sept 67 - 3.8 RHD-15383 LHD-14758

total production 83,980 units

Pretty amazing numbers!

whats amazing to me is the number of LHD 2.4’s built. Thats just 425 a year if it ran steady. They must have built them on order.

anyone ever seen pepperpots on a Mk2? Curious as to what they’d look like.
