Crank case vent line 48 MK Iv

Getting closer to ignition. Missing crank cave vent pipe on the 48 Saloon. If someone has one great otherwise picture would really help and we will make.

Regards,
Gust Nelson

Hi Gust,

It’s the same as this MkV picture.

I assume you have the casting.

Peter

Its made of 5/8" OD steel tube, about 15" long, with 2 bends, and the bottom end is cut at an angle so the road draft tends to suck vapor out rather than blow dust in.

Thanks Rob will make.

Gust

The top end is likewise cut at an angle [ 45 deg] facing away from the block to avert oil splashing into it

One of the guys here in the club used a bathroom handrail tube to recreate his missing one…

Road draught tubes: how quaint.

:smirk:

It also helps to mount a metal plate on the inside of the tappet cover on the bolts holding the vent casting so that fumes can pass but oil cannot.

So tough on Reilley!!! Even when he speaks up with the answer.
