Hi everyone, I’m new here, I’m currently restoring my 420 1967 manual and would like to know if I can use aluminum rims, Dunlop type? also, 196x65x15 or 205x70x15?

6x15 will not fit the rear. 5,5X15 will
I have 5.5x15 ( wire wheels) with 205/70 R15 on my S-type, that has the same rear as the 420, and it is a very close fit

how does the 205 is sitting to the 5.5"? is it ok? also what is it like changing tyre on the car? thank you, Ram
205 fits OK, not to wide.
Replacing is a very tight fit with wire Wheel, I always jack up in the middle of the IRS.
No pictures available at the moment, I can make one next week.
On my 420, I originally used 6 inch wide wire wheels. Big mistake! In order to remove the rear tire I had to completely deflate the rear tire to remove it on a lift. Now it has 5 inch wire wheels with 205/70-15 tires and the ride is much more comfortable.
