Dash Washer Pump Switch

Hi Everyone,

I was trouble shooting the washer pump switch in my 72 S1 XJ6 today. Looking at the attached diagram from my schematics, if I put a jumper on #2 from the positive post of the battery the pump spins. If I put that same jumper on #1, and press the switch, no action from the pump.

My question is…the black line connecting #3 and #4 is that supposed to a jumper cable? I have nothing but the LG and LG/B wires on my switch.

That’s the “switch”, just how it’s drawn. 3/4 might not even be spades on the outside. If the switch really is at fault then you can carefully dismantle and clean it.

Hi David,

Yes, my switch does have spades on the backside in positions 3 and 4.
Thanks for you help. I’ll try dismantling and cleaning it.
