I am used to the MY93 - MY94 cars with the in the tank fuel pumps. Do the 1988 and 1989 cars have external high pressure fuel pumps (outside of the tank) instead? Maybe the same pumps used in the XJS cars from the 1980’s ?
Yes the 88/89’s do have an external fuel pump and filter.
Correct, Jaguar went away from these external Bosch pumps on the XJ40 because without an air conditioning system integrated fuel cooler they had a tendency to vapor lock and cavitate causing an immediate failure to proceed. I know all about this with my 1990 car but now hopefully resolved with some modifications…
