I need help on disassembling and locating the springs, etc. to fix
the seat belts on my 1973 xke SIII 2+2. The seat belts are in the
car but do not retract. How do I get to the rachet and where can I
buy new rachets/springs…? any info would be appreciated.–

Be careful when you open the retractor spring compartment. The
spring is actually a reverse-wound spiral spring (called a negator
spring) and it stores an incredible amount of energy for it’s
size. It can chop up fingers quickly.–
