I’m replacing the dealer installed Motorola alternator
(not bad!, it lasted 39 years) with a modern generic
replacement and have a question about the mount. The
existing mount fits the old alternator perfectly (5 cm
wide). As the mounts on the new one are 11 cm wide I was
considering making a new mount for the block but was
wondering if there was more than one mount style as
original equipment. Nothing is shown in either of my
manuals and the parts suppliers list only one type. I
noticed that on the side of the block there are two bolts
holes but only one was used on my existing mount. I know
that some dealers offered the Motorola as a replacement for
the Lucas alternator. Was there a different mount style or
was the same one used with the Lucas alternator?–
