[E-Type] Blower Fans - Series III E-type

Hi,

I know the subject of fans has been covered in exhaustive detail,
but, try as I might, I can’t find the original post describing the
Fiero Fan modification, but even so, I believe this was for Series
1 and cars. Now, after a lot of searching the net, I did manage to
locate a new Fiero fan motor and impeller, more importantly,
someone to post them to me here in Australia. However, now they
have arrived, I discover that the Series III car seems to have a
deeper involute and heater box than the Series 1 and 2 cars and the
Fiero Fan is only very slightly taller than the original fan.

Further, due to the height difference, I can’t mount the fan close
to the inlet at the top of the involute, because the shaft on the
Fiero motor is not long enough. I wondered if anyone had come
across this and come up with a solution? I see two possibilties, a
taller/deeper impeller, or a blower motor with a taller fan shaft,
but unfortunately, I have found no Australian delivery car with
suitable items and wondered if anyone else has solved this problem?
I have no issue cutting holes in the involute, although I do want a
fairly neat and tidy solution, which is after all, the whole point.

Hope someone can help,

Regards,

Simon,
Australia.–

Simon, I documented an alternative approach.See my photo
album. This was for a XKE’‘SII’'…didn’t know that the SIII
heater box is different, not on mine it isn’t.–

Hey Simon,

I found a Denso/Toyota Motor & impellor that fitted very nice & is
hugely more efficient… it needs a relay for the high speed or the
switch will melt (that was my experience). Try a local automotive
components place & look for parts for a Toyota Cami, Dario Terios
(China), Daihatsu Taruna (Indonesia), Perodua Kembara (Malaysia),
Premier Rio (India)… the ~'97-~'05 version.–
