[E-Type] color of airbox

Can anyone tell me the correct color for the box that bolts to the
driver side of the bonnet and directs ari to the heater? I saw one
hammertone in the collectors guide but I am told that it should be
black.
Also the air filter assembly, black or silver?
car is a 64 fhc
thanks Joe–

The airbox for the heater is black crinkle and the air filter
housing for the engine supply is silver hammertone on my 68 OTS.

The JCNA S1 Judging guide, available free on the JCNA website, will
answer many of these questions for you. All 3.8’s used the larger
style heater inlet which was black. During the 4.2 production Jaguar
went to a smaller style which many of us refer to as the snail inlet,
for obvious reasons, and these had a black crinkle finish. The guide
gives the vin numbers of when this change took place. If you’re new to
E-Types you’ll quickly realize that Jaguar made changes during model
years so if someone says, for instance, all 64’s were equipped a
certain way they are 100% wrong!
