Scott,

I have a NOS Lucas distributor cap #54414989 that you’re
welcome to for what the usuals charge. Let me know and I
will post it tomorrow. The correct coil for your E-Type is a
HA-12, Lucas #45104. This coil is identified with the SW and
CB markings and long tapered neck. NOS coils are made out of
‘‘unobtainium’’. Used ones do show up on E-bay from time to
time. They are easy to restore and seem to last forever.

Hi Randy,
Lets see: 1) Sunny warm day with hood down with my lovely SWMBO in
late November; 2) Cop misses me and picks up the Dude beside me; 3)
Smoke escapes and turns out to be a simple fuse; 4) Sample some great
wines and finish up with; 5) a really good bacon cheeseburger for $3.50.
I count my blessings all the time!
Cheers,

That’s an open invitation to the Capri, Chuck, anyone else as well!

It was a wonderful way to wind up the season, I was shocked to
have such a fine day this late in the year.

Grab them when you can! Nice story.
Thanks Chuck,

I drove the 65E over the weekend … from the barn to the garage. =
Sorry, hope we get some more nice weather but suspect it’s over for
this year.

The sun was out for about an hour so I grabbed the chance. I’ve
escalated the home-brewing of Diesel to the next step, which does
involve heating the oil. I figured I’d rather be safe than sorry
and relocated the Jaguar to the garage for the time being. So the
Jetta lives in the barn now, and if the whole thing goes up in
flames I’d MUCH rather be dealing with insurance on a new “daily
driver” than a classic family heirloom!
Good thinking! Speaking of insurance, I decided to get Emmy appraised
today. Pretty pricey at $150 (there goes the radar detector-I might
dig out my old one though) but might give me some piece of mind even
staying with Hagerty.

I’ll have to bookmark that burger place in Idaho for um… future
reference.
Like I said, it’s an open invitation.

Oh, and Lynn… get a radar detector!

Not wishing to rain on your parade Lynn - and thanks for the great
story - fuses have little glass tubes to keep the ‘smoke’ from
escaping even when it has been chased out of the wire by those
nastly little electrons.

If you smelled something electrical the fuse saved your skin, which
is why it’s there of course. I’d be looking to see what caused the
fuse to blow. Maybe something intermittent if the new one is still
OK, but if you really smelled something that means there was some
overheating/melting going on somewhere in your harness…–

Thanks Peter,
Absolutely, I suspect it may be my heater fan motor as it is also on
#7 (I have to double check). I have had a devil of a time getting it
to be quite, I rebuilt it with new brushes and oiled the bushings,
then greased them then oiled them (you get the picture). I think it
may be time to bite the bullet and get a new motor.
Again thanks, your right on, I sure don’t want to use either of the
two fire extinguishers on board!
Cheers,

Great adventure, Lynn. Thanks for sharing. Ain’t life
sweet when you sport around in a sweet-E!! Down here cloder
to the equator, we have just begun ‘‘driving’’ season and the
V12 especially seems to like the cooler weather. BRRR It’s
practically freezing outside, though! 63F now, but it
supposedly will be a sunny 72F on Turkey Day.
Maybe we can take them out for a run, but no cheesburgers,
we will have too much food here to eat!–

Thanks Ginger, Sorry to hear its so COLD down there  I suspect
that we might get a few more nice days before spring but there won’t
be many, and that’s for sure.
Have a great Thanksgiving,

When I signed up with Hagerty for my restored MGB, I chose
‘‘agreed value.’’ I told them what my replacement cost was,

my E Type, I stuck with my regular carrier for these
reasons. Good luck,–

Sorry to hear that Ginger. In southern Arizona where I live, it’s only
supposed to get up to 80 F and Sunny today. May have to put on my long
sleeved T-shirt if it gets any colder.

I’ll have to take the OTS out for a spin this afternoon, top down of course.

Everyone have a good Turkey day!

Thanks Kent,
I decided to go ahead and get an appraisal for my '68 and do a bit
more research on AF insurance. I talked to the agent this week and he
told me they(AF) only had a couple of limitation: it can’t be your
only car and they have a milage restriction (soft as there are no odo
checks) of 7.5K/yr.
Thanks for your thoughts, I’ll see how it shakes out.
Cheers,
